Q. How can I get a loan from Watu in Sierra Leone?

To qualify for a loan, one is required to have the following:

  1. Original and valid government-issued identification document example:
    1. Valid driver’s license
    2. Valid National ID card
    3. Valid Voter’s ID card
    4. Valid NASSIT ID card
    5. Valid Passport

Q. Who is eligible to become a guarantor on my behalf?

Anyone over the age of 20 is eligible to be a guarantor provided they meet the criteria stated above and have a long standing relationship with the client.

Q. What documents do I need to sign to access the loan?

You need to sign a loan agreement which details the terms of the loan and a security agreement which provides that the motorbike/keke is security for the loan and which allows Watu SL to sell the motorbike/keke if there is a default under the loan agreement.

Q. Do I own the motorbike/keke?

During the loan repayment period you are the economic owner of the motorbike/ keke. You can use the motorbike/ keke to generate income, but it also serves as security for the loan. You will become legal owner of the motorbike/ keke only after your loan is paid in full.

Q. What does the total value of my loan include?

The loan is made up of principal, interest and loan processing fees (to cover, for example, GPS tracking, registration, ownership transfer fee and insurance costs). This information you will find summarized on the first page of your loan agreement.

Q. What are my weekly payments?

Weekly payments is subjected to bike model, down payment amount and loan.

At the signing of the loan agreement, your individual payment schedule will be generated. You will have a set weekly payment throughout your loan cycle.
